Position Overview
The Loading–Unloading Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all activities related to the movement, handling, loading, and unloading of goods, materials, or cargo at warehouses, transport hubs, or worksites. The role ensures safe, accurate, and efficient operations by managing manpower, coordinating with transport teams, and maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
⚙️ Operational Management
Supervise and coordinate loading and unloading of trucks, containers, or cargo vehicles.
Plan daily operations to ensure smooth flow of inbound and outbound materials.
Verify shipment details, quantities, and documentation before and after loading/unloading.
Monitor proper stacking, weight distribution, and securing of goods to prevent damage.
Ensure timely dispatch and receipt of goods as per schedule.
Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, and transport teams for efficient movement.
👷♂️ Team Supervision
Assign tasks and guide loading/unloading staff, forklift operators, and helpers.
Monitor performance and ensure adherence to company policies and safety procedures.
Train staff in safe material handling and efficient loading techniques.
Maintain discipline, punctuality, and productivity among workers.
🦺 Safety & Compliance
Enforce strict compliance with safety regulations and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) usage.
Inspect loading areas, vehicles, and equipment for potential hazards.
Conduct safety briefings and accident prevention drills.
Report any accidents, damages, or near-miss incidents to management immediately.
Ensure compliance with transportation, warehouse, and environmental standards.
🧾 Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of all inward and outward shipments.
Verify and sign delivery challans, invoices, and dispatch documents.
Prepare daily loading/unloading activity reports and submit them to the logistics/warehouse manager.
Update data in ERP, WMS, or MS Excel systems as required.
Track vehicle loading times, delays, and manpower utilization.
🤝 Coordination & Communication
Liaise with drivers, transporters, vendors, and warehouse staff.
Communicate effectively with operations, purchase, and quality control departments.
Resolve on-site issues quickly to minimize downtime.
Maintain good relations with labor contractors and ensure proper workforce availability.
Required Skills & Competencies
In-depth knowledge of loading/unloading procedures and warehouse operations.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Basic computer literacy (Excel, ERP/WMS entry).
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple shipments.
High attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving ability.
Educational Qualification
Minimum: 10th / 12th pass.
Preferred: Diploma or Certificate in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Warehouse Management.
Experience
0–5 years of experience in loading/unloading supervision, logistics, or warehouse operations.
Experience in manufacturing, transport, FMCG, aviation cargo, or port operations is an advantage.
Working Conditions
Work primarily at warehouse yards, transport hubs, or logistics terminals.
Physically active role requiring movement, standing, and occasional lifting.
May involve shift work, weekends, or extended hours during peak operations.
